Another Gospel…

This morning I was reading Galatians 1:6-8 where Paul was talking about ‘another gospel’.
I am surprised and astonished that you are so quickly turning renegade and deserting Him Who invited and called you by the grace (unmerited favor) of Christ (the Messiah) [and that you are transferring your allegiance] to a different [even an opposition] gospel. Not that there is [or could be] any other [genuine Gospel], but there are [obviously] some who are troubling and disturbing and bewildering you [with a different kind of teaching which they offer as a gospel] and want to pervert and distort the Gospel of Christ (the Messiah) [into something which it absolutely is not]. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to and different from that which we preached to you, let him be accursed (anathema, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment)!” (Amplified Bible)
It occurred to me, what a tool this has been for the enemy within the Kingdom of God. The subtlety and slipperiness of the tactic was actually surprising at first but was also quite obvious when you look at things through the lens of The Word.
Hidden in plain sight…the enemy has a plan to divert you from the simplicity of the Gospel. As long as he can attract your gaze just long enough for you to take your eyes off Jesus, he has grabbed your attention away from your First Love, which is Christ alone. Perhaps it’s a TV preacher star with a feel good message about hope…that is, provided you send that small gift of only $19.99 for a token of shallow placed faith. Maybe its that song on the radio that moves you tears every single time you hear it because its all about you, your life and your mistakes. You see, Jesus and His complete work on The Cross stands on it s own. Its message of Grace doesn’t require you to spend a few bucks to find it. His free gift of salvation is yours for the asking!
None of us is good enough or can do enough to earn His love. There is not one human alive (or dead for that matter) who can reach Heaven by any other means than through Christ Jesus. We deceive ourselves to think otherwise or to think if we can just get our act together, then God would take us the way we are. This is just ‘another gospel’.
